I think it is not worth saying that the genre of role -playing games is the most not killed thing all over the world. The human desire to fantasize and represent himself as a great wizard with a staff, throwing lightning and fire, or a princess, for which the knights go to exploits, will always exist and in all or lesser extent. One of the most popular ways of expressions are games, especially computer and desktop. However, today I want to tell you about the side of role-playing games, where the fantasy and character of a person directly affect the result, where creativity is the least limited by any framework. I will tell you about text role -playing games, about how they conquered the world, and why for almost half a century they have not surrendered their positions.
I’ll start my story with the distant 70s. These were special years, in 1972 the world saw the first commercial game Pong, which became the beginning of the gaming future. And in 1974, the Dungeons & Dragons Haste was released, the influence of which is difficult to overestimate. And, sooner or later, these two events were to be repoyed together and create something that I will call the predecessor – Colossal Cave Adventure. It was created by the speleologist William Crouter based on his professional experience for computers Dec PDP-10. Represented a game of adventure, a study of the dungeons in search of treasures. The peculiarity was that the computer displayed the text with a description of the situation, and the user had to enter commands like “turn right” or “go straight”. Such a gameplay can hardly be called a fully texture role -playing game, since its important component was missed – social interaction. That is why we move three years in 1978. straight to the University of Essex, where a student of Roy Trabshou instead of using computers for their intended purpose made a game MUD. His main feature was that now several students can play at the same time, it is translated by the Multi-User Dungeon, a multiplayer dungeon. This time the goal is not to go through the conditional dungeon, but to gain a certain number of points that will give the status of the “wizard”, this in turn will give immortality. It was here that culture was formed when administrators, moderators and other important cones began to be called immortals, and ordinary players respectively Mordals in such games. Mud was so popular that he got a lot of clones, and he himself was updated in every way during his existence. The next 20-30 years, this type of entertainment has grown to such an extent that, firstly, it began to gradually fade due to the appearance of more advanced games, and secondly, he gave life to new genres.

Someone thought at one time, and why not make less text in such games and add more graphics, and in the end we got mmorpg. The second offspring of MUD was the so-called post-by-Play and Post-by-Emeil. Technologies developed and people received new ways to exchange information, text role trees like water began to fill all these niches, and Mud fans suddenly realized that it was not necessary to sit without a game, because now there are mail, forums and chats. Which has become completely opposite to MMO, a minimum of graphics and maximum text. They were now called abbreviated PBP and PBEM. It just so happened that in Russia Mud was never popular, because the network and the Internet came to us too late, and the average user already had ICQ with him and loved to rummage on the forums and write fan fictions on the network. It was in these places that domestic text games originated.
Once upon a time a long time ago, in 2010, as I said, loneliness swollen me to watch anime. And when I got hooked on one such anime, it just went out, I tried to track when a new series, watch it faster. The request brought me to Animespirit, and not to the anime itself, he brought me to the discussion forum. At first, I probably watched for a day or two, and then I registered, began to discuss the anime itself and smoothly it all went into a flood. The moderator was constantly driving us with a big shovel and there, with our beloved sorceress, we really decided to go to the Fludil. Moved to the Fluda section and there was a ward. Initially, the moderator wanted to be some kind of game moment, but all this quickly flowed into a regular flood. This is the communication of smiles and the like. <. >And I don’t know, I wanted to create. I am Kys.I (administrator) outlined what I see and how I see, and tried to make those clans that were. And I repeatedly rewrote these rules in order not to lose anything, not to miss anything, so that it was no longer a floodplain, but a role.
I would like to dwell on the forums in more detail, since, unlike chats where all the rules are chaos, there is a strict selection and a whole list of what was prohibited to do. It all started in different ways, but basically the rolections appeared thanks to those who wrote fan fiction, and spontaneous floodplains and chats. In the end, the first one wanted to try on the role of her beloved hero and make from this a theatrical production with other participants. While the latter became so made friends that they decided to switch to a new flud level. Something like playing a family. Well, you know, “and let’s be a dad”, “And let’s be a mother”.
